October 6, 1926 – September 20, 2012
It is with incredible sadness that the family of Maria Anna Sgaggi announce her passing on September 20, 2012 at the age of 85.
Maria was born in Lucca, Italy on October 6, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1954. She married Ferminio (Frank) Sgaggi shortly after her arrival and together they raised four children. Maria was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She faced life with great strength and unconditional love. We will never forget her or the lessons she taught us.
Maria will be deeply missed by her children Mariella (Lee), Lorena, Domenic and Sandra and her grandchildren Lisa (Mike), Mark (Erin), Nicolas and Andrew. She will lovingly be remembered by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Nino and Rita Sgaggi of Calgary and her sister-in-law, Vittoria Sgaggi (Bravi) of Urbino, Italy. Maria was also a very special “Zia” to Dina Unti and Paola McKinnon and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Frank in October of 2009.
