SERBLIN, Aldo Sergo

March 22, 1940 – Pula, Croatia
August 15, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Heaven must have needed a fresh coat of paint because on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, Aldo Serblin, master painter, was commissioned to expertly apply another coat.

Aldo, who painted thousands of homes here on Earth, began his career at 15 after leaving his family home in Pula, Croatia. He earned a diploma in his craft in Italy and made his way to Canada, eventually settling in Calgary in the late ‘70’s. Although he never married, he was surrounded by women who loved him up to the very end. Irene Birbeck, Karen Doucette, Debbie McDonald, Margaret (Margo) Kennedy, Natasha Richardson and their families and many others will miss him dearly.

Despite his often cantankerous disposition, Aldo had a heart of gold and was always eager and willing to lend a hand or a brushstroke at a moments notice. Charming his way into the hearts of his clients, long after a job was completed Aldo would be invited back into their homes. Or sometimes, more often than not, he would show up unannounced with gift in hand, blue eyes twinkling and a story about his latest project. When he wasn’t climbing ladders, Aldo loved to golf and bowled competitively all over Alberta winning many championships.

To honour the life of this man who brought colour and joy to so many, Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the funeral home. He would like nothing more than to have the people in his life meet and enjoy each other’s company, just as we have enjoyed his. “Oh for Pete’s sake” dear friend, rest in peace. It was a privilege and an honour to know you. You shall not be forgotten.

In living memory of Aldo Serblin, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 403-241-0044.
