SEKRIJER, Cindy Lynn

October 28, 1964 – Edmonton, AB
February 26, 2014 – Calgary, AB

After a long courageous battle with brain cancer, Cindy Lynn Sekrijer passed away on February 26, 2014 at the Southwood Hospice.

Cancer took many things from her, but she refused to let it take away her joy in life, her love of family and friends, and her deep faith in her God Jehovah.

She will be deeply missed by her Mother Jean Payne (Lloyd), and her Father Matthew Moroz (Margaret), her three sisters, Dawn Melin ( Donovan), Candis Wood (Roger), and Diane Pawliuk ( Darrell). Her nephew Skyler Wood, niece Kyla Maillet ( Nathan), and their children Jude and Melody, whose antics never failed to bring a smile to Cindy’s face, will not forget her love for them.

Her dear friends Zoria and Bruce Hollebone, Evelyn and Gill Kleven, and Lorna Higgins along with many other friends too numerous to mention, were by her side whenever she needed them. The family is so grateful for the loyal love and concern they showed Cindy for so many years.

Wendy Kinsman and Wendy Smith, along with all the staff of PriMed Canada Inc. , were more than work colleagues to Cindy. Their many acts of kindness and the hard work they performed on her behalf gave her much peace of mind.

Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

It was with great sadness that we learnt about Cindy’s passing.
We met Cindy in mid 1980 in Calgary during a job interview.
Needless to say that we hired Cindy and worked with her ever-since, as her independent carrier evolved into the President and owner of PriMed Canada.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at PriMed Canada.

  12. Ilka, Stephen, Micheline and Abigail Corsar :

To Uncle Danny, and all of Cindy’s family,

I have many fond memories of my aunt Cindy. I remember the fun visits with her when she came to visit us in New Jersey. I remember the clearance shoe outlet that we stumbled upon. Cindy did love her shoes! I think between the three of us we bought 70 pairs of shoes, for about $50! I remember being able to meet Dawn and Don when they were on the way to Papua, New Guinea. I hope that the good memories that you as her family have, will help you cope during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Regrettably, distance and sickness prevents us from being there today. Our deepest sympathy to all of you.

    Much love,
Stephen, Ilka, Micheline and Abigail Corsar

  14. My brother Dan Sekrijer :

Memory is a wonderful gift from our Creator. We can relive these shared with our loved ones. Our warm memories of Cindy include when she and her husband, Dan visited us in New Jersey. On one of those visits we had a great time in New York attending a Broadway show — Smoky Joes Cafe. We loved getting together on many occasions centered around our cooking passions. Cindy will be greatly missed, but no one cherished her more than the man who will hold her in his heart forever, her husband, Dan Sekrijer. Your loving sister Millie And husband Gary Panasuik

    Our dear brother Dan Sekrijer,
We have many fond memories of you and Cindy. We always had such wonderful family reunions together sharing experiences. Our children had mentioned that you and Cindy were their favorite aunt and uncle. Cindy loved trying new recipes which we often shared together. It was always special to you to display Cindy’s picture which we noticed in your home. We know you loved her and she will be missed. Your participation for caring and traveling with her to see other specialists was heart warming. Your loving sister Joyce and husband Warren Lewis

  16. From Cindy's Family :

    To all of Cindy’s friends:

We would like to thank Cindy’s true and loyal friends who spent countless hours comforting her and bringing unconditional love and most of all peace.

Cindy’s life especially over the last couple of years were not easy for her. But she never complained about her lot in life. Instead she built many up with her courage and faith.

No words can express our appreciation for those who wrapped her up in their love and made sure she had no stress and needless anxiety. There were many things that caused her great sadness but she always had many who held her hand and made her feel special.

Those who meant the most to her over the last 5 years made sure she was never alone right up to the moment she breathed her last breath. The needless anxieties that was a everyday occurance in her life was always made easier to deal with by you beloved ones that she loved. Thank you.

In loving memory to our daughter, sister and friend.

My dear son, Danny, this being the most difficult time for you please know your mother and your family feel the pain in your heart. When you and Cindy got married we could see how much you loved her. Your desire to have her at your side forever you demonstrated through out the years. The many joys and disappointments that you shared and the way you longed to be at her side was what you expressed to us. May the special times that you had be the memory of your life with Cindy.
    Your loving mother

  19. Brenda Gilbert :

Dear Jean and Lloyd, I am so very sad to hear the news of Cindy’s passing. She was a beautiful person, much like her Mom. It’s been 5 years since my Bryson died and 4 years since my Lisa died. The hole in your heart doesn’t go away. But the brighter side is that they suffer no more and that they will each have a next breath, as will Cindy. Those next breaths will be incredibly wonderful, and I truly look forward to the day to be with them again. You will be in my prayers. Love you much! Brenda
