Condolence Messages

  1. My deepest sympathies to the family members. No words can be spoken to take the incredible pain away. My thoughts and prayers to Jordan’s family. A life taken away too soon. What comes to mind was this from Psalms 23-4.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
    He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’ sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
    Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

    RIP Jordan.

  2. Karen Lamola :

To the Segura family and friends,

On behalf of the Lamola family, I want to offer our sincerest condolences. Jordan and I attended Bishop Carroll together and he was also the driver who transported my family on the day of my brother’s funeral. I can honestly say I have never met a more compassionate individual and couldn’t have asked for a more supportive person on such a sad day. You had an amazing son, brother, and friend who positively touched the lives of everyone he met. I wish you strength, courage, and all the love and support you will need during this difficult time.

You’re in our thoughts and prayers.

    Karen Lamola

  3. Kelly Hamzic :

My love and support will always be here for you. I will keep your family in my prayers.

  4. I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the Segura family.

I had the pleasure of sharing a class with your son once in high school and once in university. He was an absolutely beautiful individual.

Even though I never had the chance to become friends with him, it was easy to see in class that he was an incredibly caring individual. I distinctly remember the number of times that I would pass by him and his friends at the Tim Hortons in MRU. He had this positivity about him that everyone truly seemed to be drawn to. From the people that always surrounded him it was easy to see that he was someone who loved and was loved very deeply.

Even though I did not have the pleasure of knowing your son as more than just another face in two of my past classes, he left an impression on me that will not be forgotten.

I can only offer my sincerest condolences. A beautiful soul has been taken far too quickly.

  5. Gajdos family :

Jordan was a sweet, shy boy. I had the pleasure of teaching both him and Jullien in junior high. We are saddened to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jullien and his family.
    Barb and Amber Gajdos

May the love of your family and friends surround you during these days of sorrow.

  9. Department of Religious Studies :

The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Calgary offers its deepest condolences to the Segura Family. Jordan was a very popular and committed Religious Studies student, with an obvious passion for his studies. He brought life, humour, intelligence and dedication to every class and he was very committed to his fellow students and to the subjects they were studying together. He was a regular presence in the department and was very committed to our undergraduate student society, Gnosis. He will be greatly missed by students, faculty and staff.

  10. My sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Segura family for your tragic loss

  11. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel. Please know that you are in our thoughts.

Jordan has changed all of us for the better.

Sending you love, prayers and my deepest condolences.

  16. Danielle Tran :

    Doris Segura and family:

Words cannot express the pain you must feel at the loss of such a young life. Jordan will forever live on in your hearts and memory. There is a celebration in Heaven, because an angel has returned home.

  17. A.A. MacNeil :

    Dear Segura Family,
I worked with your dear Jordan many times last summer. He was the son that would make any parent so proud. He was a young man with a social conscience, working, going to school with so many dreams for the future. My condolences to all of you at the loss of your wonderful son Jordan.

  18. The McKenna's :

From my family to yours, our deepest condolences. Jordan was a thoughtful, kind and incredibly intelligent young man. His drive and hope to be a part of creating positive change in the world will be our communities greatest loss.

    Nicole McKenna & Family

    (Former co-worker)

  19. My condolence to the family of Jordon. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I know the pain of a parent’s tragic loss of their children, because I lost my oldest son to a senseless murder. There are no words to describe the pain you’re in, nor can you come to any sense of it. My prayers are with you.

  20. Nataaha Williams :

My condolences to Jordan’s family and friends. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met and had the pleasure of working with. My prayers are with you all in your time of grief. R.I.P. Jordan you will be sadly missed

  21. Maria DeGagne & Family :

It is with our deepest sympathy that we write this message. You are in our thoughts and prayers. At this time of loss please know that we’re thinking of you and holding you close to our hearts. Our children are precious gifts to us and I just know that Jordan knew how precious he was to you.

  22. I only knew Jordan for a short amount of time but even then he was able to make an impact on my life. He was always smiling when I saw him at school and I’ll never forget his bubbly laugh. He was such a kind person with a warm presence. He will be celebrated in heaven and he is now at peace.

  23. When Jordan played soccer with the Blizzard club, I was one of his coaches and my son Steven one of his team mates. I remember him as a very bright young man and talented athlete. It was wonderful working with him, and the chance to be on a team with someone like Jordan made coaching very enjoyable and fulfilling for me. While the boys on that team are all in their early 20’s now, and many scattered around the country, the word of Jordan’s passing has made its way around, and they are all deeply saddened. We will all remember him for the fine person he was.

  24. Delia McCrae & Bob Lisevich :

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of your dear son Jordan. No words can ease the pain of loss of such a wonderful young man, a treasure to his family and friends and all who knew him. You and your family are in our thoughts are prayers at this difficult time. Hearfelt condolences with love from Delia, Bob & family.

  25. As a Mom, I can’t begin to imagine your grief over the unexplainable loss of a wonderful young man. Know that there are many prayers and much love being sent to your family. God bless

  26. Lysle and Ron Barmby :

We love Jordan. Jordan became part of our lives through our son Brett Barmby and friend Danielle. He was an amazing young man and we will miss him so much but he will always be part of our lives.

  27. Alanna McInnes :

    Segura family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I have never met you, however Jordan always spoke so highly of his “cool” older brother, “compassionate and selfless” mother, as well as his great father. I first met Jordan in our first political science class together at MRU. He was still deciding which area of study to focus on, however his love for knowledge was always apparent and obvious. We would hang out outside of school mainly at Canada Olympic Park where we would throw ourselves off of ski jumps. He always offered to go first and I would follow suit with his speed. That’s just the kind of person he was. I will always remember him as one of the most soft-spoken and kind friends I’ve ever had. Thank you for raising such a beautiful soul. You are in my heart, always.

  28. Thoughts & prayers to all of Jordan’s family.

  29. Marc L. D'Hont :

So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jordon.

  30. Another young life taken too soon. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends, may he rest in peace. I never knew this young man, but I find my heart breaking for him and his loved ones. Please know there are so many who are hurting with you, sending love and support from near and far.

  31. Beth Plimbley :

Jordan, you will be missed by so many people. I will remember working with you and what I learnt from you, I will take with me everywhere. I hope you’re in a good place and you’re at peace.

  33. To Jordan’s family,

As a co-worker, Jordan was an immense help and caring person who would offer his hand whenever needed. As a friend, we was a kind, funny and very fun young man. 36. My deepest sympathies go to Jordan’s family. He loved you so much and always spoke so highly of you. Jordan was so kind; he would always try to make someone elses day better.

I only wish I could have spent more time with Jordan. His smile always brightened my day, and now that he’s gone, the whole world is so much darker. His amazing smile, his quiet demeanor, his love for others and learning, and his pure zest for life will NEVER be forgotten. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time.

  41. University of Ottawa Student :

It was with great shock that I learned that a fellow student’s life has been taken at a regular occurrence such as the one Josh was attending. It is what us university students do on a regular basis and look forward to. Therefore, the news of this occurrence was overwhelming and left us with a sense of shock and grief as we mourn the passing of one who is like a kindred spirit.

Deepest condolences at this time, may you find peace in the memory of your son.

  52. My deepest condolences to Jordan’s family during this very difficult time.
I was very fortunate to get to know Jordan through work and mutual friends that attended high school with him.

Jordan was such a passionate person who stood up for the things and ideas he believed in without being uncompromising. This passion was evident in the way he treated his friends. Jordan was always an extremely good friend, and put a lot of effort into maintaining friendships. I had been very close with Jordan, and although we had somewhat drifted apart, I was so happy that we were able to reconnect over the past few months.

There was something about Jordan’s smile and laugh that was truly infectious, you couldn’t help but to be happy around him.

    Rest in peace my friend.

  53. You represent all of us. All university students. My heart breaks for your friends and family and to them I send my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Your memory will live on forever.

  55. I am so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult losing someone you love so dearly, only time will make the pain at least bearable. You will treasure in your hearts all the beautiful memories Jordan has left behind. I can’t imagine your sorrow but please know that you are in my thoughts. Sandy from Ottawa, Ontario

  56. Daphne & Ed Blandford :

    To the family of Jordan,
We want to express our heartfelt sympathy to you in your hour of unimaginable grief. We are parents too and cannot believe why this senseless act occurred. We will never be able to understand the depraved mind of someone who could do this. Five young lives in the prime of life cut down for no reason, they had so much to offer to the world, we will never know what contributions they would make but we know they were heading in the right direction. We don’t know you and we never met Jordan but we feel compelled to let you know how much you are in our thoughts and prayers since we heard this terrible, shocking news. You are not alone, God is with you. I’m sure at times he feels far from you but be assured he feels your pain and knows exactly how you feel; he lost his son too! We will continue to ask God to give you strength and courage to face the days ahead, to hold you up when you feel you can’t carry on by your own strength and to hold you in the palm of his hand. Hopefully the many memories you have of Jordan will help to comfort you in the days and weeks ahead.
    Most Sincerely,
    Daphne & Ed Blandford, |
    Mount Pearl, NL

  57. To the Segura family, I am so deeply saddened and sorry for your loss. You are in our hearts and thoughts, as is Jordan. I am a complete stranger but hope that the realization that the whole city mourns with you provides some small comfort.

  58. My deepest condolences to Jordan’s family and friends. I only met him a new months ago, and we only spoke a few times, but it struck me how easy and friendly he was to talk to. Rest in peace.

  59. I didn’t know Jordan but I too am a third year at U of C and I feel like I could’ve known him, perhaps we walked past one another in the hall at school at some point. I just want you to know that my heart breaks for your entire family and all who knew and loved Jordan. My thoughts are with you and I wish all of you light and love in this time of immense darkness.

  60. I never knew nor met your son. I heard about this tragic senseless act through the news, and I can only offer my deepest sympathies and love and prayers. May he rest in peace, and may you, his family, find a light in the dark.

  61. Although I do not know any of the victims, but when I heard the news, I too as a mother was shocked. RIP Jordan, and my thoughts are with all of the families affected by this. My deepest thought and prayers are with you all.

  62. I hope this gives you a bit of light.. I am so sorry for your loss. may God give you strength and fill you with his love. Your beloved will always be with you in every beautiful wonder that you see, and every new morning and sunset that you see.
    our heart was broken
without a warning no words spoken
    you were taken away
someone said you could not stay

empty and lonely is what we are
we lost a precious shining star
    our family torn apart
your world began with a promising start

    life is unfair
this difficult cross we must bear
strength and courage we will find
our special child always in our mind

a place in heaven is where you sit
looking at that star you lit
in our thoughts forever you will be
for ever free to fly and touch the stars.

  63. I hope it helps to know that so many people across the country grieve with you during this unimaginable tragedy. My son Neil was traveling in New Zealand and spent a couple of days sharing a hostel room with Jordan. I think Jordan had rented a station wagon and they went out shopping for curtains, rope and clothes pegs to fashion some curtains for the wagon so Jordan could sleep in it with some privacy during the rest of his trip. Neil speaks very highly of him and said he was just the nicest person to spend time with.
We are so so very heartbroken about what happened. Sending you sympathy and wishes for healing and eventual peace as you mourn the loss of your wonderful Jordan.
    Jo-Anne, Brandon, MB

  64. The Sharpe Family :

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time and in the weeks to come. The Sharpe Family..

    Miraba atento esas huellas
    reflejadas en el cielo
    pero algo extraño observé
    y sentí gran desconsuelo.

    Observé que algunas veces
    al reparar en las huellas
en vez de ver los dos pares,
veía sólo un par de ellas.

    Y observaba también yo
que aquel sólo par de huellas
    se advertía mayormente
    en mis noches sin estrellas.

En las horas de mi vida
    llenas de angustia y tristeza
    cuando el alma necesita
    más consuelo y fortaleza.

    Pregunte triste a Jesús:
    “¡Señor, Tú no has prometido
que en mis horas de aflicción
    siempre andarías conmigo…?

    Pero noto con tristeza
que en medio de mis querellas
    cuando más siento el sufrir
veo sólo un par de huellas.

    ¿Dónde están las otras dos
    que indican Tu compañía
    cuando la tormenta azota
    sin piedad la vida mía?

    Y, Jesús me contestó:
    con ternura y comprensión;
    “Escucha bien, hijo mío,
    comprendo tu confusión.

Siempre te amé y te amaré,
y en tus horas de dolor
    siempre a tu lado estaré
    para mostrarte Mi Amor.

Mas si ves solo dos huellas
    en la arena al caminar,
y no ves las otras dos
    que se debieran notar,
es que en tu hora afligida,
    cuando flaquean tus pasos,
no hay huellas de tus pisadas
porque te llevo en Mis brazos”.

  70. We are very sorry for your loss – may God grant you the strength and courage to face the difficult days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Please know that I will continue to pray for you all during this terrible time.

You are in my thoughts and prayers

  81. Jessica Taylor :

I offer my deepest condolences to all those affected at this time. When I heard of the murders I was shocked but when I heard Jordan was one of the five I was floored. He was an incredible person that I was so fortunate to have met. I didn’t know him as well as others, but we had a class together and rode the bus together often in my first year at MRU and he was always so kind and always had a smile on his face whenever he saw me. He taught me the ins and the outs of the transit system, laughed at my jokes, and always seemed interested in having a good conversation until we parted ways. Jordan deserved better than this and it pains me so much to think that he is gone. We will miss you Jordan, rest in peace and know that you were truly loved by many xx

  82. I never met Jordan nor knew him, and heard of the horrible tragedy that senselessly took his life along with others. Words can’t state the shock many nationwide feel over their passing! We know it could be someone within our family that we loved! I cannot find the words to express how I feel for you, his family, and for his friends. Such a loss a young man taken far too soon! May God in his infinite love place him in the arms of Jesus. May he be comforted with love and peace! I am so sorry for you loss! May Jordan RIP

  83. I did not know your son Jordan, but I have been more deeply effected by his tragic passing than I could have imagined. I think that I would like to keep what I have learned about his spirit, how he affected those that he knew, how he lived so fully and successfully, and how much he is and was loved in my mind and in my will, as I face substantial challenges in my own life which are soon to come. My very heart and thoughts go out to your family at this time.

  84. Twenty years ago, I lost a loved one to homicide. My devastation felt overwhelming. Time has helped somewhat. I do not know you but even in far away New York State, people know of your story and of the loss of your son and brother, Jordan. I send you my deepest and most sincere condolences and my prayers that you will find a way to endure your loss.

  87. Mark Kennedy - Sacred Heart Church :

Our hearts are heavy along with you today. Jordan was a wonderful man with such an outgoing smile and attitude. My son Christopher spent his elementary school years with Jordan, and like everyone I have talked to; has been deeply affected by your loss. Time will not totally heal your grief but it will help you get through this. We look forward to hearing from your family to see how best you would like us to help remember Jordan, when you and the other families release that information in the future. God Bless.

  88. Kathy McCarville :

My deepest sympathies to you all. I worked at Ascension of Our Lord School and remember Jordan as a very nice young man. We moved from Brentwood, (Beil Ave) in December and were very shocked by such tragic losses in our old neighborhood. We would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to your family and let you know you are in our thoughts at this sad time.

  93. Ricardo and family,
It has been many years since we have seen you, but when we learn of such a tragedy, the years in between fade away. On behalf of all the Fisher family, our hearts and thoughts are with you. I am so very sorry for your loss. It has made this terrible tragedy much more personal. I pray God’s blessings and comfort for each one of you in the coming days. Our thoughts are with you all.

  94. Charmaine Caines :

I only met Jordan once and that was last summer at McInnis & holloway. I helped organize the funeral of a dear friend who was like Jordan, taken away suddenly. He helped me bring all of the belongings of my friend to the trunk of my car. Very polite young man, he had commented on how he would love to have a BMW like mine one day. I recall asking him how someone so young felt about working in the funeral business. He just replied he was happy to help people in any way he could. He flashed a friendly smile and off he went. As much as he touched those close to him, he even left an impression with those who didn’t know him. I’m one of those people. May God bless and keep you.

  95. I can’t even imagine how to start to say anything that will help in incosolable public shocking grief we all are experiencing and then to think it’s worse when it’s someone you know or is part of your family.

So instead I will let you know you are all in my thoughts all the families as you find a light of comfort in your darkest hour.

  96. Helena Szilas :

My deepest condolences to Jordan’s family and friends during this very difficult time.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  97. Adriana Burton (nee Oliverio) :

I had the pleasure of teaching both Jordan and Jullien in elementary school. Jordan was a sweet boy with a great sense of humour. It was a shock to hear of his tragic passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Jullien. May God bless you and give you strength.

  98. I never met Jordan but when I seen the news I just loved Jordan instantly when I seen his photo – I cried that he was taken away like this. Even though I believe fully that he is in heaven and so happy, it does not make it easy to lose someone you love here. I will always remember him and he must have been extremely special for people who were blessed to know him, as I never did but he has made such an impact on me. Bless you and your family. With Love,

  99. Melissa Cobb :

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jordan’s passing. It was a privilege to become acquainted with him as his English teacher at Bishop Carroll. He shared a check-in area with my Teacher Advisor group throughout high school so this provided me with another glimpse of his personality. I will always recall how his bright smile and his sense of humour attracted many of his friends and peers. It is comforting to know that he continued to serve as such a positive role model for others after graduating from BCHS.

Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers during this devastating time.

  100. Jordan and I were not close at all, but we had crossed paths from time to time at Bishop Carroll during the brief time I had attended that school in 2006. I remember we met during our mandatory co-ed dance class, which we were given extra marks for dressing up. He wore a bow tie. We were paired up to dance together and we laughed about how dreadfully awkward the dance unit was and how we couldn’t wait to try out other units (like snowboarding). Whenever we’d see each other in the hall, we’d kind of smile at each other and say hi.

I never really forgot his face, and was in such disbelief when I heard this tragic news.

    My sincerest condolences …

  101. It always brightened my day to see Jordan when he came into my store. I still remember so well, the first time I spoke to him outside of my workplace, how we bonded over our similar interests and future events we’d be attending — I’m so glad we became friends afterwards. I only have fond memories of Jordan…he is deeply missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the Segura family. You’re all in my thoughts.

  102. To the Segura Family,
I did not have the privilege of meeting Jordan but it is obvious that he was an extraordinary and gifted young man with so much warmth, humor and heart. This world is a lesser place without Jordan and the people of this city will never forget this young life, so senselessly lost. Please accept my sympathies and know that many people are praying for strength and healing for your family during these very difficult days.

  103. Jordan was an amazing person, and was always so kind, hard working, and really loved and enjoyed the work he did at the YMCA. A true natural with the kids and the values we carry at the ‘Y’. I wish I had the chance to know Jordan more than I did when we met through work, although it was not hard to be impacted by that smile, you couldn’t help but to smile back. It was a life, spirit, and positive energy which was definitely taken too soon. I am so sorry to the family for their loss. And remember “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”~Dr Seuss

    Sending all my Love, Allison

Thank you for such a big impact you made in my life and continue to. I know you are near, please visit in my dreams, Love you Angel.
