SCHWINGHAMER – Alphonse (Al)

July 24, 1912 – August 15, 2009

On August 15th, early in the morning, at the venerable old age of 97 years, our dad passed from this life.

He finally found that door he’s been searching for to reunite him with his beloved wife Adele; his son Peter; his three sons-in-law, Ted, Jim and Henry; all of his brothers and sisters and all of mom’s family.

We remember them all for their pioneering spirit, their loving dedication to family, their amazing talents in art and music and their incredible humour. It’s the end of an era. Dad, your legacy lives on in those of us left behind, your four daughters, Muriel, Lorna (Adam), Joan, and Mary; your grandchildren and great grandchildren. We celebrate your life. You will be forever gentle on our minds.

Our grateful thanks go out to the staff of the Forest Grove Care Centre for the dignity and kindness with which they treated dad during his time there. Dad’s wishes were to be cremated and to have a private family service. He will be buried with our dearest mom at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through

In living memory of Al Schwinghamer, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.

    Dear Muriel and family,

It is sad hearing about one of the last members from my grandparents generation to leave this world. My thoughts and prayers go to you and the rest of your family. May the Schwinghammer/Weber family live on for many more generations to come. God bless! Steven Arcand

To all the family, my sympathy. I have lots of memories of your Dad, your mom’s nick name for him, and his taking us places e.g. skating on a pond. Your notice was very touching. Love, Pat

So sorry to just hear of your loss. Time slips by too quickly. I’m sorry the great-grand kids never got the pleasure of meeting him.
