SCHNELL, Sharon Shirley Anne (nee Risteau)

May 16, 1948 – June 6, 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Schnell (nee Risteau) announces that she went to be with her Lord on June 6, 2012.

Sharon was born in Kingston, ON to Basil and Edna Risteau, the second child of three girls. She grew up as an army brat and lived in many different cities, but she always loved living in Nanaimo the most. In 1967 she met George Schnell in Calgary and they were married shortly thereafter. They had two children, Brad Schnell born in 1968 and Kathryn Schnell born in 1974. She raised her children with much love. In 1993 she became a grandmother to Sadie Schnell, daughter of Kathryn Schnell. She cherished her granddaughter and thought the world of her. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to spend her winters in Palm Springs with her beloved husband George.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Brad Schnell (Alissha Schnell); daughter Kathryn Schnell; her beloved granddaughter Sadie Schnell; her mother Edna Speilman; her two sisters, Valerie Paolera (Angelo) and Kathryn Hawes (Cliff); her much loved dog and companion Charlie and numerous extended family members. Sharon was predeceased by her husband of forty-two years George Schnell and her father Basil Risteau.

“We will always remember the good times mum, you’re with Jesus now, and we love you very much”.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Sharon Schnell, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

Very sorry about your Mom. I haven’t seen your Mom for years. We lived across the street from each other in the army base of Sarcee. I hung out with her until she met George. I went to their wedding but eventually lost touch. I was only 17 when they married. She was so much fun when I knew her
