Schlender, Alvin Fred

Alvin Schlender of Didsbury, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2009 after a long battle with illness at the age of 76 years. Alvin was born on May 4, 1932 in Trochu, Alberta, son of Otto and Anna Schlender of Essen, Germany. Alvin enjoyed a long a prosperous career as a welder, electrician, construction contractor and aviation mechanic. He later began a waste removal company, which the whole family operated for over twenty years in the Airdrie and Crossfield districts. Alvin was a dedicated member of the Crossfield Lions and Odd Fellows Clubs as well as many other organizations. Alvin is survived by his sons, Kevin and Heidi, Colin and Marty-Joe. Granddaughters, Dominique, Danielle and Kylie. He was predeceased by his wife, Rhoda; brother , Kurt and sister, Elfrieda. Funeral Services will be held at the Crossfield Community Centre on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Crossfield Cemetery.
