SAYERS, William Andrew

September 5, 1929 – February 28, 2012

Rev. Bill Sayers, Retired Ordained Minister of the United Church of Canada died on Tuesday February 28, 2012 in his 83rd year.

He is remembered by his wife of 56 years Marian (Hall); children Bill Jr., Mark (Pat), Margaret, Dorothy; granddaughters Shelley and Meaghan; sisters Margery (Bill) Munro, Margaret (Don) Reed; brother Bob, as well as many extended family members and close friends. Bill was predeceased by his mother Ruth Sayers. Special thanks to the Palliative Home Care staff.

Service of Remembrance will be held at Parkdale United Church (2919 – 8th Avenue N.W.) on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes to the Bill and Marian Sayers Scholarship in Gerontological Nursing to support U of C students may be made by phone (403)220-8261 or by cheque made out to the University of Calgary with Bill and Marian Sayers Scholarship in Gerontological Nursing (Memorial) indicated in the memo line, c/o U of C Development Office, 2500 University Drive N.W.   10. My condolences to you on the loss of Bill. I knew him when we were fellow students living in St. Stephen’s College at U of A in Edmonton. He was assistant minister at Knox United in Calgary in 1964 when Daphne and I were married. He was minister to the young married group then. I have met him occasionally over the years at church functions. He will be missed.
