SAWATSKY, Jacob

June 30, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Jacob Sawatsky on June 30, 2014 at the age of 95 years.

Jacob served with the RCAF as an AE Tech with Bomber Command during WW II, and continued in this trade after the war, working on jet engines until retiring from the RCAF in 1973. While living in Abbotsford and Aldergrove he worked at the Otter Coop until he retired in 1983. After several years in Salmon Arm, Jacob and Sylvia moved to Calgary where they have resided for the last 17 years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jacob is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Sylvia (nee Willett), his children Carol and Robert, grandchildren Debra Converse, Allan Agerbak, Rick, Kelly, and Kyle Sawatsky, great grandchildren Sean, Riley and Rawson Converse, Tyler and Faith Agerbak, his brother Cornelius and wife Eunice, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Watergrove Club House (99 Arbour Lake Road NW) on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 3:00p.m. to 4:00pm. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Dr. M. Joyce and staff, and Dr. B. Donnelly and staff. Special thanks to the Urban Palliative Care Unit and Revera Home Care for all their care and support.
