Minnie passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Carewest Sarcee the age of 94 years.
Mom was born and raised in Calgary. She graduated from Crescent Heights High school and became a hairstylist working at Eaton’s Beauty Salon. She married John Sawaryn on June 19, 1943 and they had two daughters. She loved sports, music, and played the mandolin and piano. She was an avid golfer, gardener and a dedicated Stampeders fan.
Minnie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pat and Ron Robertson, daughter Barbara Sawaryn, her cherished grandchildren Scott (Stephanie) Robertson and Shawna (Kevin) Robinson of whom she was extremely proud. The love of her life were her four precious great-granddaughters Samantha and Sarah Robertson and Jocelyn and Lauren Robinson. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1995; twin sister Olive Kravetz, her sister Stella Pekse and brother Ted Boyko.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the caregivers, staff and residents at Carewest Sarcee for their support, care and kindness given to Minnie and her family the past seven years.
