SAMUELS, Reginald William

February 13, 1937 – Kolar Gold Fields, Banglore India
March 10, 2015 – Calgary Alberta
Reginald William Samuels of Sudbury, ON and Chlliwack, B.C., passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice in Calgary AB, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the age of 78 years.
Reggie was worn in Bangalore, India on February 13, 1937. He first immigrated to England and later to Canada, where he would find permanent residence.
He lived the majority of his life in Sudbury, Ontario, where he raised his family and worked. He was a proud employee of Falconbridge Nickel Mines for thirty-two years.
Reggie loved sport-fishing, tennis, soccer, pool and darts. He lived for, as he would say, “the challenge,” especially of the horseraces. One of his many words of wisdom was “I will climb that mountain.”
Reggie was passionate about life, whether it be music, dance or sport; he loved a good road trip and spending time with his family, especially with his children.
He was a world traveller, his family often had to wait by the phone to find out his location. His life was a series of Everest-like challenges, from leaving his birthplace in India and fulfilling his father’s wishes, then moving to England (where we would meet the love of his life), to finally immigrating to Canada, where he would settle, work, and dedicate his life to his three children and his wife.
Reginald is survived by his son Leonard Samuels of Sudbury, ON; his daughter Virginia Samuels of Calgary, AB; his daughter Dee-Dee Samuels of London, England; his four grandchildren, Jessica May, Chelsea Maria, Kaillin Patricia and Lillian May; his great-granddaughter Aviyania Marie; his sisters and brothers, Daphne Bertie, Melvin Samuels, Elizabeth Joseph, and Eugene Samuels; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Reginald was predeceased by his wife Patricia May Samuels; his parents, Norman and Mary Samuels; and his brothers, Noel, Denzel, and Terrence Samuels.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
In living memory of Reginald Samuels, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 403-241-0044.

  6. Brian McDonald :

I just found out of the passing of Reggie. (Mar. 26th.) I had the pleasure of working with Reggie at Falconbridge. We in the electrical dept. enjoyed working along side Reggie who operated the mine hoist. He had a great sense of humour and a terrific work ethic.
He was a good guy and fun to be around.
