Robert Olof Russell, of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 24, 2015.

Born in Norrkoping Sweden in 1938, to Dagmar and Harold Russell, Robert enjoyed an active childhood with his siblings Lilo, Bjorn and younger sister Barbara. Robert completed his military service, graduated from Geology and then immigrated to Canada in 1968. He enjoyed a successful and long career as a chief geologist in Calgary. Robert is survived by his sister Barbara, his niece Ann, nephews Dan and Lars, brother-in-law Ulf Karlholm and their families.

Robert’s passions included swimming, cross country and downhill skiing, tennis, bike riding and long walks to discover and appreciate plant life, animals and birds. 1. Val and Bob Stephanson :

Dear Helen , Elizabeth, Mike and family….Bob and I would like to offer our condolences on the loss of Robert..When we lived on Wellington Place, it was always so interesting and lovely to talk to him usually a couple of times a day….He certainly loved his walks and I would usually be out working in the back yard when he would walk down the back alley and alway stop to chat….I loved listening to all the stories he would tell me of what he had spotted that day down at Edworthy Park..He was a positively delightful man and such a lovely presence in Wildwood…I shall miss seeing him wave to everyone as we drive on Spruce Drive…and I shall always remember those fantastic stories and how i looked forward to those stories every day…
    With sincere sympathy

  2. Sharon and Thomas Bayerle :

We are so very sorry for your loss. Our family never officially met Robert nonetheless, we chatted or waved, every time we saw him on our walks or drives in Wildwood. For the past several weeks we hadn’t seen Robert out and about in the community and genuinely began to have concern. We will miss Robert, his smile and his warmth but, will always remember the man who said “hi, hi, hi” and infectiously impacted our hearts and lives. He will always be remembered in Wildwood. Our sincere condolences.-the Bayerle family
