A farm boy from Quebec’s Chateauguay Valley who came West on a harvest train, John became a proud Calgarian who will be fondly remembered for his appreciation of life’s simple pleasures: tending his prized backyard garden, country drives in search of ice cream, history books borrowed from the library, leisurely walks at Glenmore Reservoir, coffee with friends, and chuckwagon races.
John was a loving husband to Velma (nee McCallum) originally of Rosetown, SK; father to sons Malcolm “Mac” (Dee) of London, ON, and Ken (Kristin) of Calgary; Grandpa/Papa to Callum, Emma, Brooklyn and Ella; and brother to Royce (Marian) of Dewittville, PQ. He was predeceased by his parents Malcolm “Mac” and Lillian, and brother Frank.
