Carol, I’m so deeply sorry. We just couldn’t believe it when we got the email yesterday. If there’s anything we can do to help please let us know. Maybe, once things settle a little, a Victoria holiday?
I’m so glad we briefly caught up with each other after so many years of not meeting up, but of course, wish we could have spent more time with both of you.

It is very difficult to express our loss in Dave’s passing. Judy, our son Mike and myself have loved and cherished our friendship with Dave & Carol. Our families started out as great friends as we started our military careers together in Calgary and continued as we went on to pursue our careers in the oil industry both starting with Dome Petroleum. Throughout, the past 42 years I have always cherished our close relationship and his passing is a loss to all of us!!

Carol, Christine and Mark; Lise and I were absolutely crushed when we were told of Dave’s passing. Of all our dear friends, we cannot think of anyone who could stack up to Dave in so many ways. Our memories and experiences with Dave go back more than 3 decades and we can truly say that Dave is right at the top when we think of what makes a person great. He was loving, hard-working, hard-playing, positive, genuine, unafraid, energetic – so many adjectives we could go on. Carol, we know Dave loved you and his family above all else. Our thoughts are with you and the many friends who will miss Dave’s love and friendship. Malcolm and Lise

Carol, Mark, Christine, Liz and Family. It is with profound sadness that these latest thoughts of Dave must be expressed in a note of condolence. We first met as kids in Edmonton where we shared a mutual facination with a horse – Citation Mike, PPCLI mascot. We didn’t realize it then but we were destined to 8 years later form a bond of friendship that began at RMC and continued for the next 40+ years throughout careers in military and energy. Dave had many friends who loved him but he was also so likeable, smart, fair-minded and willing that he was instantly respected by anybody who came into contact with him. The reason? It has always been his nature to put everything and everyone ahead of himself – his animals, his soldiers, his co-workers, his friends but especially his family. One day in our final term at RMC I told Dave how anxious I was to wear my iron ring and get on with life. He told me how anxious he was to wear a wedding ring that would bond him forever with the love of his life – Carol Collins. Dave will forever be in our hearts and our memories. There has never been a better man than your loving father, husband, brother, and friend.

  23. Chuck MacLennan :

I was deeply saddened to hear this week of Dave’s passing. It was an honour and a pleasure to be counted among his friends at RMC. Dave was a source of encouragement and support to all of us when the going got tough – he always seemed to look on the bright side of things. Although geography and careers prevented much contact with Dave over the years, I always smiled when someone mentioned his name. He was indeed “one of the good guys”. Carol, please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of a wonderful husband and friend.

    Sincerely, Chuck

  28. To Mrs Dave Rudd and the Rudd Family,

Please accept my sympathies. I served with Dave on the Cutting Horse Committee (2002-2005) and did know him from as well from RMC and military days. It was Dave who invited and sponsored me to be a member of the committee. It was always a pleasure to be with Dave who always did much more than his share of the work that needed to be done. He was a strong and gentle man who was always prepared to help anyone, anytime.

    Again please accept my condolence.
