ROYAL, Darrell

March 12, 1946 – February 11, 2013

Darrell Royal of Siksika Nation passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the age of 66 years.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife and life long dance partner Judy; children, Kimberly (Peter), and Dylan; grandchildren, Kristi-Anne, Brenda, Brandon, Denzel, Caidence, Darion, Charnell and Bonnie; brothers Floyd, Patrick, Ricky, and Eric; sisters Ramona, Alona; adopted sisters, Connie Rabbit Carrier, Elizabeth Scout, and Jesse Buller; adopted brother Rick Lightning; special nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Florence Calf Child; Brothers-in-law, Clifford (Sherrie), Don (Francis), Kevin, and Darcy (Della); sisters-in-law, Loreen, June, Koren.

He is predeceased by daughters Rhonda Cheryl, and Simona; father Jack Royal; mother Alfreda Bear Hat (Pat); brothers Frank Royal and Harvey Royal; sisters, Leona, Rhoda, and Liberty; grandparents Nellie and Peter Little Light; nephews Travis Weasel Child and Frankie Small Face.

Darrell comes from a large extended family from Siksika, Blood Reserve, Browning Montana Crow Agency Tsuu Tina, Clan familes, Little Lights, Royals, Bear Hats, Black Waters, Running Rabbits, Many Guns, Poor Eagles, Many Heads, North Peigans, and Big Swans.

Special friends, Ron Neufeld of Edmonton, Paul Ruggles (CPS, Retired), Neil Anderson, CIET Canada, Bev Shea CIET Canada, and many acquaintances within the Family Violence Programs in Canada.

Darrell coordinated Siksika Healing Wings, Domestic Violence Program, pioneered Siksika Disability Services, graduated from Keyano College and many other programs related to his job under Community Wellness and Siksika Health Services.

Special thanks for all who brought food, support and prayers. Special thank you to Bonnie Young, Mona Royal, Lydia, Olivia, Deatrice, Cindy Poor Eagle, Cheri Royal, Jolaine, Home Care and Siksika Health Services.

Wake Services will be held at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour, Siksika Nation on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 6:00p.m.
