Jack Rowe passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the age of 89, 19 days short of his 90th birthday.
Jack was born and raised in Calgary – a true Alberta Pioneer. Jack was a dedicated volunteer during his life, volunteering with the Parkdale Community Association, the Parkdale Nifty Fifties, and with several Grade 6 classes at Parkdale Elementary School. Jack loved camping, dancing, and entertaining friends with the love of his life, Skip.
Jack is survived by his devoted son Terry; daughters-in-law, Peggy and Tracy; and his four grandchildren, Jennifer, Trevor (Brianna), Westley, and Ryan. He is also survived by his sister Edna; sisters-in-law Mary Yahn and June Shearer; brothers-in-law, Walt Goodkey, Paul Duros, and Al Shearer. Jack was predeceased by his wife of sixty-three years Nina; son Dave; sisters, Ethel and Olive, sisters-in-law, Georgina Lockert, Ethel (Pep) Whitburn, Joan Duros, and Minerva Sheard; and brothers-in-law, Joe Lockert, Fred Whitburn, Jack Goodkey, Clancy Yahn, and Reg Sheard.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
