ROTHLIN, William (Bill) Joseph

September 16, 1962 – August 26, 2012

William Rothlin of Calgary, AB passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the age of 49 years.

William, the second of three boys, was born to Marjorie and Joe Rothlin on September 16, 1962 in Calgary. He was known for his love of movies (particularly science fiction), his booming voice, and he always enjoyed a good laugh. William had a strong work ethic, and was proud of the work he did for many years as a Systems Analyst Technician with AM PM Services. William had a loving heart, and family was very important to him. Not having children of his own, he was very proud of his six nieces and nephews. He faithfully helped his mother through months of deteriorating health until her passing last October. William himself faced his cancer diagnosis this spring with courage, dignity and a strong will to live. He often expressed gratitude for all the love and support that he received from family, friends, neighbours and co-workers during this journey. William was a beloved son, brother and uncle, and will be missed. His family would like to express their profound gratitude to all the staff at the Agape Hospice in Calgary for the unconditional love and gentle care William received during the past several weeks.

William is survived by his brothers, Alan (Keziah) of Vancouver, BC, and David (Kari) Rothlin of Crowsnest Pass, AB; as well as nephews, Evan, Michael and Kuijerrn; and nieces, Chloe, Maeve and Malia. William was predeceased by his father Joseph in 2009 and his mother Marjorie in 2011.

A Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at 206 Royal Oak Mews N.W. Condolence Messages

  1. Chichi Talukder :

My heart goes to out the family memebers of William Rothlin, as we all grief in sadness and sorrow. We all share a sense of loss indeed.

I always fondly remember Willy, as one of my dearest colleagues from ampm service days. As a rookie computer hardware technician he mentored me alot and guided me through challenges I faced; together we truimped in our successes and on occasions subdued in failures, and most important we always prvailed owing to our commaraderrie.

William always stood out and distinguished himself in professionalism. He always took customer service as we all know it to the next level and always went that extra mile to his customrs benefits.

And today, I have a deep sense of humility, gratitude and humbleness towards my hero William Rothlin. And that’s how I want all of us to remember him. He will always be a part of my career and accomplishments. And that’s how I want to celebrate his life.

    “RIP my friend William Rothlin”.

  2. I was shocked and saddened to see the column in the paper several days ago advising that William (Billy to all of us kids on the block) has passed on.

From the time we were toddlers until I left home at 18, we were neighbors. Throughout those years we were a group, acting as kids do; on again off again but always the group at the top of Carney Road. Bill was a genuine guy who came from a fine family. Our parents got on well and there was a strong sense of neighborhood in those days. I will treasure those times.

On behalf of my family I would like to offer our sincere condolences to both of you: Alan and David and your families on this tragic loss. May you and your families draw near to each other in these dark times, and sense God’s loving arms embracing you with the love and comfort that only he can provide.

    Sincerely, Dan Engel & family

  3. I was very sorry to hear William(Willy) had passed on. My sincere condolences to Williams brothers and their families.I worked with William for about 6 years and thought of him as not only a great co-worker but a friend. He not only had great dedication to AMPM Service but to the employees that worked with him. He spent extra time teaching myself and others the RIGHT WAY to do things! We will miss him around the office
    Sincerely, Steven Brown
