ROTHLIN, Marjorie Gordette

June 4, 1937 – October 1, 2011

Marjorie Rothlin of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the age of 74 years.

Marjorie “Marge” Rothlin was born on June 4, 1937 in Stettler, Alberta. She grew up on a farm near Botha, AB, with three older brothers, Jim, Alan and Max. Upon completion of high school, Marjorie continued her education at the Calgary Institute of Technology, where she met her husband Joe, and the two were married on September 7, 1957. They raised their three boys in Calgary, and when the kids were older, Marjorie worked as a Lab Technician for Petro Canada. Marjorie and Joe enjoyed their retirement, travelling all over the world to Africa, China and Turkey, as well as many camping trips close to home. She was passionate about living life fully, having survived several health crises during her lifetime. Marjorie was a very skilled homemaker and sewer who made numerous quilts, clothing, keepsakes and many other treasures over the years for family and friends. Marjorie’s great love in life was for her family; she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

Marjorie is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law: Alan (Keziah) of Vancouver, William of Calgary, and David (Kari) of Crowsnest Pass, AB., as well as six grandchildren: Evan, Chloe, Maeve, Michael, Kuijerrn, and Malia. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Joe, and brothers Max and Alan.

  1. Gord and Marina Gathercole :

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Rothlin family. Marj and Joe were very good neighbors to us for many years. Unfortunately we will be away at the time of Marj’s funeral and so will be unable to attend. We will be thinking of you. Sincerely, Marina and Gord Gathercole

  2. Randall Stewart :

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Rothlin family. Though I did not know Marjorie Rothlin we are related through the Voysey family. I am currently using “The Legacy of James Voysey” for my family tree and I wanted to thank Marjorie for all the work she had done. I am so sorry that I cannot thank her personally. It is such a marvellous book.
