George Rose beloved husband of Lillian of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the age of 84 years.
Besides his loving wife of 42 years Lillian, George is survived by his chosen children Helen Chubak, Lloyd Rose, Gerald Rose; five grandchildren Samantha, Sarah, Veronica, Trinity and Quintin; two nieces Linda Rose and Susan Buscholl and three nephews Tim, Dan and Michael Rose.
George was very involved in the community of Acadia. He was part of the building committee that built the Acadia Recreation Complex and was on the Acadia Community Association board for over 30 years.
George worked for the CPR for 41 years starting as Wiper and ending as an Engineer. It was George who brought the last VIA passenger train into Calgary from the West. It was a sad day for him when that scenic passenger train service was shut down by the government.
In 2002, George and Lil were awarded the Commemorative Medal of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
George loved people, was a very outgoing and happy man, this lead to many wonderful lifelong friendships.
He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Margaret Rose; his sister Mary Buscholl; his brother Johnnie Rose and nephew John Buscholl.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
