RODTKA, Norma Rosemarie (nee Krook)

January 27, 1937 – Port Arthur, ON
October 4, 2017 – Calgary, AB

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Norma Rodtka on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the age of 80 after a life of many achievements and good memories.

Leaving to mourn with fond memories are her two daughters, Patricia (Steve) and Deborah as well as a large circle of cherished friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, Leverne; father, William and mother, Elsa of Sunshine, Ontario.

Norma joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Thunder Bay, Ontario in May 1966, moving to Calgary in 1971 and retiring from the bank in 1996. After retirement, Norma volunteered her time by taking on the role of companion at the Chinook Care Nursing Home, joined the YYC White Hatters and rescued numerous cats. Norma was a person who was skillful in diplomacy, pleasant, simple, sincere, honest, she combined both beauty and strength, was a very humane and kind person, creative, admired and treasured for her compassion towards people and animals, never forgot a kindness or an injury, loved to be her own woman and was the most amazing mother and friend to her daughters. Norma fulfilled her divine destiny by staying true to her heart.

At her request, there will be no Funeral Service. A Celebration of Mother’s Life will be held next year. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloay.com.

In living memory of Norma Rodtka, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  4. My sincere condolences, Pat & Debbie!
Your mom was a dear friend whom I’ve known and worked with at the bank. She became a very close caring friend with my wife Millie and I can still hear them discussing the soaps over the phone. When Norma visited for our annual lobster fest they would sit and talk for hours. She was a blessing to Millie.
RIP my dear friend you have a special place in my heart ❤️
