  5. Bill was my first boss in Calgary Parks and Recreation, and one of my best because he was so friendly and helpful. We even went canoeing and skiing together after work (and the occasional drink at the St. Louis Hotel). I have fond memories of working for him – and later with him – over the years. He was indeed instrumental in getting the Calgary pathway system started, and asked me to take over the project from him; saying that it was one of the best jobs in Parks! He was very principled and not shy about expressing him opinions about faults in the City system. One example comes to mind: at a public meeting about Nose Hill Park many years ago, he stated that having the Parks Department maintain the natural area on Nose Hill was like having a fox take care of the chickens! (Things have improved a little since then) I want to pass on my condolences to Carol and her family.
