Bob Robertson of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2005 with his family at his side at the age of 78 years.
Bob was born in Quill Lake, SK. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Engineering, and was a lifetime member of APEGGA. He spent many years in the refractory and oil service business with AP Green and Canadian Refractories. He purchased Clayburn Industries with his partners and subsequently relocated with his family to White Rock, BC in 1978. He returned to Calgary in 1984 after purchasing Rainbow Riggers Ltd. He retired in 1994 when he sold the company to his son Geoff. Bob loved the outdoors, and participated in many outdoor activities with his family, including snowmobiling, boating, hunting or horseback riding with the Bar OR Riding Club. Bob was also a charter member of the Calgary Winter Club, and with his wife and friends enjoyed years of curling, dancing and other activities. Bob and Daisy were regulars with the Highland Swingers Square Dance Club. In retirement, in addition to the loyal companionship of his dog “Cody”, Bob with his wife Daisy continued to enjoy the cottage on Shuswap Lake, boating, fishing, gardening and playing cards with his many friends and acquaintances. Besides his loving wife, Daisy, Bob is survived by his sons, Geoffrey (Cathy), and Lorne of Calgary, and daughter Kathy deLisser (Brian) of Surrey, BC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Scott Robertson and Emma deLisser, his brother Reg in Saskatoon, SK and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Mack and Mary McNeil. Bob will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and co-workers.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all those that offered support and care through his illness, especially CHR Home Care and the Caregivers at Intercare Chinook Hospice.
