ROBERTSON – Kenneth Wayne

Ken Robertson (“KR”), beloved husband of Wanda of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, four days prior to his 56th birthday.

Ken was born in Kinistino, SK and was raised on the family farm in the Weldon district. Following his graduation, he worked during the summers at the Kenosee Lake Golf Course. In 1981, Ken moved to Calgary, where he began his career in the oil and gas industry. He was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leaf Fan which is evident by all the memorabilia decorating the family home. Ken also looked forward to the Calgary Stampede every year counting down the days until he could attend the rodeo and chucks as much as possible.

Ken is survived by his wife Wanda; his daughter Lauren Robertson; and his son Michael Robertson, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his parents, Merle and Anna Robertson of Weldon, SK; two brothers and one sister, Howard (Meridee) Robertson of Weldon, SK, Dan (Toni-Lynn) Robertson of Sparwood, BC, Bonnie (Neil) Ball of Weldon, SK; his parents-in-law, Ken and Eleanor Wilson; and brother-in-law David Wilson of Calgary; and eight nieces and nephews, Jeff, Shawn, Matt, Colleen, Erin, Presley, Dylan and Skyler.

  6. Bernie ( Boomer ) Wooldridge :

Wanda please accept my condolences in your loss. Ken was the most friendly and out-going person I have ever met. When we met you in Edmonton at the rodeo he talked to my 2 friends for at least 3/4 of an hour about every sport in North America. They were very impressed with his knowledge being followers of sports themselves. Take care Wanda.

To Ken’s family – I’m so sad to hear that Kenny Robertson passed away! I grew up on the next farm to Robertsons in Sask and rode the school bus with him. When I think of Kenny, I think of a guy with a warm, friendly personality, a smile and unlimited jokes to tell. He was a fun bright light as a kid – I’ll bet he was the same way as a grown man. I’m so sorry to hear this news.

  13. Wanda,

I want you to know how sad I am at having read of Kens passing. I’m so very glad that I had a chance to talk to him a couple of weeks ago. I always considered him as one of my best friends. He always had a cheery word when things were tough and an encouraging one that seemed timed at “just the right moment” when I needed it. It was an honour to have known him!

    Wanda and family,

Several of us here in Saskatoon were sad to hear about Ken’s passing. I worked with Ken at Kenosee Lake 30 years ago and have very fond memories of our “work-hard, play-hard” philosphy. Everyone enjoyed Ken as he was life of the party. Take care of each other.

  15. To all of Ken’s family and friends – I went to school with Ken, and rode the school bus with him for twelve years – many of those years sitting in the same seat. I never met a single soul who had anything but kind words to say about Ken. He was a soft-spoken gentleman with an incredible sense of humour, a tall cool Clint Eastwood kind of guy -easy going, kind and likeable -we’re going to miss you buddy. Rest in peace.

I am very sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. I first met Ken in about 1986 when he was seismic permitting a job I was managing in Red Deer. Over the years we would bump into each other. Often it was during Stampede. He always had that smile and a really great approach to life. He’s one of those people who, even though you hardly know them, they touch your life. He’s one I’ll think of as time goes by. MY condolences to you and your family.
