February 18, 1949 – February 6, 2012
Bryan passed away on Monday, February 6 at 5:35 a.m. at Rosedale Hospice at the age of 62. He was a brave and gentle man who fought a courageous and valiant battle against bladder cancer. He passed away peacefully with the same dignity and grace in which he lived his life. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and brother-in-law. While it was with heavy hearts that we watched him go, our hearts are calmed to see an end to his suffering.
Bryan is survived, and lovingly remembered, by his wife Jane; son Dru (Nadine); daughter Eryn (Jason); and his newly born grandson Adym. He is also survived and will be greatly missed by his parents Marguerite and Rene; sisters, Pat (Earle), Marilyn (Harvey) and Cathy (Dan); sister-in-law Wendy (Rolf); brothers-in-law Glenn (Sandy), David (Tinca) and Robert (Marj); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bry was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta then moved with his family to Teslin, Watson Lake, Grande Prairie and Whitehorse until his family settled in Calgary in 1967. From 1967 to 1970 Bryan attended Simon Fraser University and it was later he received his RIA (CMA) designation through the University of Calgary. In December of 1971 Bryan met Jane and they were married on August 26, 1972. Bryan was very proud to have spent most of his career in Business Planning at Parks Canada where he met many life-long friends. Bryan led an active life playing baseball, volleyball and hockey during the week nights. On weekends he enjoyed great hikes in the mountains, travelling in his fifth wheel with Jane, volunteering at the Calgary Drop-in Centre and Centre Street Church; most of all he enjoyed having Sunday supper with his children. Bryan loved family and friends with his whole heart and he has passed the best of himself on through Dru and Eryn who he was so very proud of.
Jane, Dru, and Eryn would like to give their heartfelt thanks to their families and to all their amazing friends who have been there for them throughout this journey. We couldn’t have made it through without your support; we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.
We would like to acknowledge the support of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their expertise and Rosedale Hospice where Bryan spent his final days receiving compassion with the most amazing care.
