Darrall William Rigby of Calgary, beloved father, husband, and friend, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the age of 66 after a brave battle against cancer. Darrall was born in Birmingham, England on January 8, 1942 and immigrated to Canada at the age of 26. A skilled tool and die maker, he met wife Linda working at Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg and then moved to Calgary with his wife and two sons in 1979. Since then he has been an active member of the Calgary community in all aspects of his life. He was a committed member of Christ Moravian Church for over twenty-five years, participating in many leadership roles and recently a member of the Ordination Review Committee of the Moravian Church Northern Province. His strong tenor voice will sorely be missed filling the church with music. He was a member of both the Canadian Welding Association (CWA) and the American Society of Materials (ASM) – over the years holding various executive positions within both organizations. At home he was a loving father who participated actively in the Scouting movement and enjoyed camping trips, scuba diving, and renovation and improvement projects of all kinds. Darrall was always a true entrepreneur at heart, owning many small businesses over the years, including most recently Plastic Works Inc. Darrall is survived by his loving wife Linda; his sons and daughters-in law, Nigel and Vanessa Rigby, Graham and Kristen Rigby; his mother Edith; and sister Edwina Waller, both of whom still reside in England. Memorial Services will be held at Christ Moravian Church (600 Acadia Drive SE) on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Christ Church Renewal Fund.
