Warren Walton “Joe” Rider was called home by our Creator on September 4, 2013 at the age of 50 years.
Joe was born on January 22, 1963 at the General Hospital in Calgary. He received his education in Morley, Exshaw and Springbank schools. He was a kind, friendly, humorous, and respectful person, who had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews. He was involved with Hunting and Ranching most of his life. He also enjoyed playing various sports; fastball, hockey and the two sports that he had a passion for, golf and playing pool. He had gained many friendships playing these two sports. He was employed by Tawow Resources and Stoney Tribal Administration for Bearspaw First Nation for most of his life, and held various positions with both. He put all his efforts into everything he did and respected the traditional way of life.
Joe is survived by his two beloved children John and April; two step-children Cheyenne and Celine; his beloved mother Violet Rider; sister Vivian; brothers Terrance, Wyatt, and Warrick Rider; sister-in-law Margret; Grandmother Tina Holloway; maternal Aunts Georgie Chiniquay, Irene Baptiste, Maxine and Carol Holloway; Uncles Billy (Dorris) Dixon and Stan (Vera) Holloway; paternal aunts Helen (Walter) Chiniquay and Eva and Mary Baptiste; Uncle Norman Baptiste; as well as special friend KoKo Powederface. He was adopted by the Bearspaw and Dixon families. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Joe was predeceased by his father Kenneth Ebenezer; Grandfathers Joseph Ebenezer and Isiah Rider; Grandmother Sara Ear; Uncle Macdonald Chiniquay; and Aunt Rhonda Holloway.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Joe Rider (Morley, AB) on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Morley United Church (Morley, AB) on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB).
