Camilo do Espirito Santo Ribeiro, beloved husband of Maria da Ascençao Ribeiro, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on Monday, February 2, 2015 after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure at the age of 87 years.
Camilo was born in Salselas, Portugal and immigrated to Canada with his brother, José, in the late 1950’s. Camilo worked for CP Rail for over thirty years until he retired, when he was able to spend his time doing the two things he enjoyed: gardening and winemaking. Camilo was a gentle soul, a loving husband and father. He passed onto his daughter his values of independence, hard work, and the importance of education.
Besides his loving wife Maria, Camilo leaves behind his loving daughter and son-in-law, Maria (Mena) Ribeiro Anderson and Allan James Anderson; his brothers and sister-in-law, José Augusto Ribeiro and Cesarina du Carmo Ribeiro of Calgary, and Antonio Ribeiro of Portugal; his sister Palmira of Portugal; his nephew Rodrigo Alberto Ribeiro of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Portugal.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
