REINHARDT, Sharon Gayle

February 18, 1949 – September 5, 2011

Sharon Gayle Reinhardt passed away peacefully on Monday morning (September 5, 2011) at the age of 62 years, after a challenging battle with breast cancer.

Calling Calgary home since 1956, Sharon attended Henry Wise Wood High School and then pursued post-secondary education at both Red Deer College and the University of Lethbridge (Bachelor of Education). She taught in various Alberta towns until 1986, when she returned to Calgary and shifted her professional path toward customer service. When she stopped working, she was well-liked and thriving at Telus Communications as a Wireless Loyalty representative and also as a Shop Steward for the Telecommunications Worker’s Union.

Although she enjoyed both her vocational choices, her real calling was to motherhood. She had only one child of her own (her “Special Angel” Lisa, to whom she was everlastingly devoted) but her motherly instincts ensured that everyone she met always had somewhere to spend the holidays, someone to play cards with and someone to call for advice or company when life became difficult.

Sharon made devoted, lifelong friends, was a voracious reader and music lover and inspired everyone she met to aspire to their best. Those who knew her well understand why her favourite quote was “I see the world the way I want it to be, not the way it really is!” and will remember the way she wanted it to be; full of music, full of happiness and, most of all, full of love. Her tenacity and joyful spirit will be sorely missed.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Lisa; brother Frank (Tannis); sisters, Noelle (Wendy) Hoffart, Holly McLachlin and Cherrie (Dave) Derksen; and her beloved cat Skittle. She was predeceased by her parents Frank (1972) and Nesta (1985).

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Condolence Messages

  1. Laura Franklin :

I met Sharon online several years ago, playing Mahjong and chatting in the game room. We became fast friends, several times trying to plan to meet in person, but that just never happened. We had a very close group of online gamers and believe it or not, we had “sing-alongs” in the chatroom! It’s amazing how many songs we knew the lyrics to! 🙂 I will forever miss her. I loved her and have spent many hours laughing, praying, singing, playing canasta, and talking about many deep subjects and feelings. I imagine she will join my other guardian angels who have gone before her.

  3. Pauline Anderson :

My deepest sympathies to the family of Sharon. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She has left her mark on this world by teaching us all how to live in the moment. Although she has left this world, and I know she did not want to leave, I believe she has gone to a better “pain free” and struggle free world. May she watch over her beloved daughter. My condolences.

“Weep not for me because now I am free”. Rest in peace dear lady. You will not be forgotten.

  5. Eileen Moore (Reinhardt) :

    Dear Lisa and families,
My deepest sympathies go out to all of you. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the funeral. I would’ve dearly loved to see all my cousins, whom I haven’t seen in a long time. The last time I saw Sharon was at my dad’s funeral in 2004 and we had a good visit. But, despite the miles, we still manage to keep up on all the news via the “grapevine”! I have so many wonderful childhood memories of family get-togethers, especially at Pine Lake, with Frankie, Holly, and Cherie, along with their parents. So, special hellos and love to you all as you grieve and remember. Cherish those memories of a dearly loved mom and sister! Know that others care and are thinking of you! Luv Eileen

In knowing Sharon’s drive to help anyone that crossed Her path, I cannot believe that She will “rest” in Peace. I believe that Sharon is likely already taking on new tasks in Her eternal life.
