REIMER – Harvey Ronald (Harv)

December 16, 1937 – November 2, 2009

With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Harvie Reimer on November 2nd, 2009 at the age of 71 years. He was welcomed into eternal life by his Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty-Ruth, daughters Cheryl (Andrew) Wright, Heather (Steve) Osmond, son Greg (Gonda) Reimer and sister Gladys Cookson.

Harv was “Papa”, “Grandpa” and biggest fan of his nine grandchildren, Jared, Joel, Jonny, Bretton, Dawson, Evangeline, Ethan, Avalon and Miriam. Harv loved the Lord Jesus, his Saviour, and demonstrated this through a life lived with integrity, dignity, servanthood, and wisdom. He was loved by all who knew him. He was born in Regina, Sask and met and married Betty-Ruth on April 7, 1962 in Winnipeg. His career included business planning and market research in Winnipeg, Kitchener, and Ottawa. As a federal servant, in public service, he worked in Ottawa for 25 years. After retirement, they left many dear friends in Ottawa and moved to Calgary to be closer to family where they easily made new wonderful friends. Harv was a great mentor, leader and his gentle spirit drew people to him. He was blessed with artistic talent that was demonstrated through painting, photography and carving. Every photograph was the next painting. Harv enjoyed his art classes as he developed his God given talents. Now, he will sit with the Lord and learn from the Master.

Funeral Services will be held at First Assembly Church (6031 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Calgary Dream Centre, 4510 Macleod Trail S.W, Calgary Alberta, T2G 0A4.

  2. My condolences to the Reimer family on the departure of Harvey. I met Harvey when he displayed his carvings in the main building while working for the Government, and subsequently aquired two of his carvings a loon and a mallard. The two carvings are sitting in our dining room watching over a bunch of small loons & ducks.

  10. Bryan and Judy Nestibo (Switzer) :

    Dear Betty Ruth and family,
It is with sadness we learn of the passing of Harvey. Please accept our deepest sympathy. What a wonderful friend and kind helper he was to my parents. You are/were both appreciated more than you’ll ever know. Mom and Dad loved you like their own. Harvey was part of their lives his whole life, as you know, and they are saddened by his early goodbye. They rejoice however that they will see him soon when once again we are all together!
May the Lord sustain you and surround you with His presence at this difficult time.
    Bryan and Judy Nestibo

  11. Was surfing the internet looking for old friends. Harvey was not my closest friend but was a good friend. He was always the model Christian and always seemed to walk the high road. I was goof friends with a lovely young lady whom we always referred to as just BR. Many good memories of our late teens and early 20’s. It always stuns me to find out that someone we knew so well passed into eternity, seemingly so early.
