Reilly, Iris Mae

Iris Mae Reilly of Calgary passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Iris was born on October 5, 1919 in Gem, AB and was raised on the farm and attended Gem School. She married Cleo in 1938 and farmed in the Wintering Hills area near Dorothy, AB. In 1944 they purchased a ranching operation Northwest of Calgary, AB in the Lochend district. This was known as the Sunset Ranch. In 1971 the Sunset Ranch was sold then Cleo and Iris moved to Calgary. During their life in Calgary they purchased a ranch west of Granum, AB which they owned until 1976. Iris was an active member of the Lochend Ladies Club. She played the piano for many local Christmas concerts at the Lochend School and later at Westbrook. Iris was active in healthcare of the ranch animals and other aspects of ranching life while being dedicated to her family. Iris is survived by her four children, Sylvia (Gary) Smith, Vance Reilly, Roger Reilly, and Christine Reilly; eleven grandchildren Joanne (Ken) Kaliel, John (Amy), Shane, Kim, Jackie (John) Issler, Tyler, Dalene (Simon) Swiebs, Mark (Nikki), Dalice, Dustin, Danielle; and twelve great-grandchildren, Alesha, Arlana, Erica, Eve, Mia, Christian, Alexandra, Quinn, Ruby, Brodie, Keaton and Aila. She was predeceased by her husband Cleo Reilly in 1976 and Adam Hergert in 1988. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle, N.W.) on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at the Bassano Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Forward condolences through In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. Thank you to the Valley Ridge Lodge Staff for their care and support for seven years as well as the Fanning Centre and Brentwood Care Centre.
