December 21, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lyle Trudeau Reid on Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was born January 30, 1925 in Ottawa, Ontario to parents Alma and Rodger Reid. He was the eldest of three children. Lyle attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia but interrupted his education to serve his country during WWII by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Following the war he married Zoe Dianna Le Lacheur on August 30, 1947. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Shortly after marrying they moved west to Edmonton, Alberta where Lyle worked with Capital Builders for several years; then established his own custom home construction business. Lyle and Zoe later moved to Calgary where they resided until their passing.
Lyle loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed skiing, curling, hunting and fishing. Music also played a large role in his life, he sang in various church choirs, the Edmonton Opera Chorus and the Mount Royal Kantorei Choir.
Lyle will be lovingly remembered by his three children Doug (Kate) Reid, Kathy (Irv) Sandulak and Lou (Jean) Reid, his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff at Chinook Care Centre for their kindness and compassion.
