Walter passed away in Calgary on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the age of 89 years.
Walter was born in Eureka, South Dakota, U.S.A. arriving in Canada in 1924. Walter and Anna were married in 1949, spending 58 memorable years together. He was owner and manager of Walter Reib Construction for more than 30 years. Prior to that, he was employed by MacDonalds Consolidated, H.L. Perry Company, and Howie Construction. Walter was a member of the Carpenters Union, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Society and Danish Canadian Club.
Walter is survived by, and will be deeply missed by his three daughters and son-in-laws Sharon Reib (Tom Dubray), Valerie Albinati (Clayton Wade) and Joanne (Lyle) Zatylny of Calgary; his eight grandchildren Jordan and Michael Anderson of Edmonton, Danielle Mossfeldt, Andrew and Geoffrey Albinati, Dylan and April Zatylny, and Sarah Burgel, all of Calgary; great-grandchildren, Daylen, Colby and Haidyn; two brothers Alvin Reib of Edmonton and Stanley Reib of Red Deer; two sisters Lillian Muir and Betty Sabo of Calgary; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States.
Walter is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Anna in December 2006; his daughter Sandra Anderson in November 1992; and his parents Louise and Arthur Reib.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
