May 31, 1925 – Croydon, Surrey
October 14, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
Jean Reed, beloved mother, loyal wife, and kind friend, passed away on October 14, 2014, at the age of 89 years.
Jean was born in Croydon, England. She worked for a time in Surrey before meeting her future husband, Alex. Two years later, in 1945, they were married and she became a war bride. The following year they moved to Canada and settled in Toronto where daughter Sharon was born. Jean later worked as a secretary for the Peel Board of Education for over thirty years. In 1997, Alex passed away, and Jean moved to Calgary to be closer to her daughter.
Animals, especially cats, were a source of great joy to Jean. Prior to becoming legally blind, she loved to read, knit, play bridge, and travel back to her beloved England. Jean loved going to Stage West with friends, and enjoyed attending the Southwood Seniors’ outings. She had a wonderful and endearing sense of humour and joy, which will be sorely missed.
Jean leaves behind her daughter Sharon and numerous family and friends in England, Mississauga, and Calgary.
