RAMPERSAD, Eurydice (DC) (nee Ramsaran)

April 27, 1929 – San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago
June 3, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Eurydice (DC) Rampersad announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 85.

DC was born to Kenneth and Florence Ramsaran in the town of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago in 1929. In 1955 after a brief courtship, DC married the love of her life, Edward Rampersad. In 1967 she left her native Trinidad with four young children in tow to join Edward in Calgary to begin a new life. Calgary became home to DC and Ed and they soon met many new wonderful neighbors whom they remained close friends with for some forty-seven years! Those whose life DC touched will always remember her as an extremely caring and giving woman who cherished her family.

DC is survived by her five children, Sherryl (Colin), Dale (Judy), Kerry, Derek, and Mel (Michele). She was the loving grandmother to seven lucky grandchildren, Ryan, David, Lindsey, Sarah, Mark, Matthew, and Jack. DC is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-three years Edward, who passed away in 2008; and her beloved brothers, Nicodemus, Enoch and Festus.

  8. Keith Jebodhsingh :

    To the Rampersad Family,

I want to extend my deepest sympathies to all of the family.

After many years of not having seen auntie DC, I was grateful to have a chance to spend some time with her last December. The first thing she did was remind of the nickname she used to call me, ‘Ice-Cream Tone’. We had a few laughs as I listened to her reminisce about the times our families spent together camping in Alberta.

Auntie DC was a wonderful person with a great heart. May she rest in peace and her light shine on those of us who remain on this earth.

We tried to phone her as we did every know and then but the phone was disconnected so we figured something happened. So I did a search today and found this page, I so sorry that we didn’t respond sooner life gets busy sometimes. Just would like all surviving kids of uncle Ed and aunty DC to know the highlight of my childhood was going over to their house on weekends and visit your whole family. Although we knew that this day would come, I still have a whole in my heart. My Aunty DC, I was a child the last time I saw you. Your smile, your caring, loving embrace. Your wonderful cooking, you and Uncle Ed were always there for us. As a child I looked so forward to traveling with you on family gatherings. Those happy times effect me till this day in a positive way. You represented love and family. I wish I could have told you that more. You were so happy around Uncle and it showed. You taught us how to be family and you taught us that we could always count on you. I want to let you and your family know that your love effects me till this day! Rest in Peace Aunty DC, Rest in Peace!
