  2. To John’s Family,
I got to know Mr. Quan as he was the father of my childhood best friend, Jimmy, back in the 1940’s & 1950’s. On my way to James Short school I had to walk past the Flat Iron Block where Mr. Quan’s family resided and I would stop in to pick up Jimmy. Even though I was caucasion Mr. Quan welcomed me to his home. The world needs more people like him. As time went by and we all went our seperate ways, I would periodically meet him on the street in Calgary. When I stopped to talk to him he would remember me and was more that glad to update me on the well being of his children. As an adult I felt proud to know John. He was a devoted father, husband and a successful business man.
God Bless you Jimmy, Shirley, Norma and David and your family.

  3. Clarence & Evelyn Buckley :

We did enjoy buying at Universal Fruit during the 2nd world war when Johnnie would honor our coupons from our ration books. and always had a little something under the counter to help supplement our supplies. He and Margie always served with a smile and were a pleasure to visit and do business with. I’m sure his passing will be a huge loss to us all. Please accept our condolences.
