1918 – 2011
Cecil passed away peacefully on May 4th at the age of 92 after a short illness leaving behind his devoted and loving wife Agnes (nee Irving), and their five children; Irene, Linda, Paul (Anne), Sharleen (John) MacRae, and Michael (Mildrey).
Papa Cec will be missed by seven grandchildren; Jonathan (Jennifer) and Geoffrey (Shannon) Crowe, Kelly and Mark Prosser, Trevor and Lisa Prosser and Miguel Blanco. Memories of Papa Cec will be shared with two young great grandchildren, Cecily and Lind Crowe.
Cec was born in Parkindale, New Brunswick and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Britain during World War II. He joined Trans Canada Airlines in its early days and enjoyed a 33 year career with the company that eventually became Air Canada. The family moved across the country with successive transfers living in Richmond, B.C., Montreal and finally Calgary. Cec was an enthusiastic gardener, handyman, community volunteer and avid bridge player. He had particular passion for auctions and restoring clocks.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Carewest Colonel Belcher where Cec resided for the past four years; in particular, we would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Celis, Val, June and Margaret. In addition, our thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Unit 73 at the Rocky View General Hospital for their care and attention during Cec’s illness.
