Prizeman, Gary Wayne

Gary Wayne Prizeman passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer, at the age of 67 years. Born in Regina, SK, Gary moved to Alberta in 1965, working in the oil and gas industry in various locations before progressing through individual tenacity and an unyielding capacity for self learning, to a successful career as a Project Manager culminating with the establishment of his own private consulting business. His work took him to locations as distant as Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was an inspirational mentor to countless colleagues, openly sharing his knowledge and experience while challenging those he cared for to strive to their full potential. Gary loved spending time with close family and friends who always looked forward to his spirited conversation and witty sense of humour. His passion for new ideas and quest for knowledge were a constant source of inspiration that gently guided the direction of our lives more than he ever realized. He will be missed deeply and never forgotten. Thanks to all who offered loving support to help ease his struggle with cancer. Gary will be dearly missed by his beloved wife and best friend Ruth; their two sons, of whom he was most proud, Todd (Sandra) and Brad (Krista); and dear grandchildren, James, Keira and Breanne. He will also be missed by siblings Gail, Donna and Ken; as well as numerous relatives, friends and work colleagues.  A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.comIn living memory of Gary Prizeman, a tree will be planted at FishCreekProvincialPark by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  2. Ronald Haslock :

Today is December 26, 2014, the day I learned of Gary’s passing. I am saddened to learn of this because I held Gary in high esteem, knowing him professionally – we toiled in adjacent offices for a number of years – having evaluated him so closely to the descriptive in the obituary above.
Where a cool head was required it was on the shoulders of Gary, whose insights into the matters of process and system control were second to none, these two but a few of his admirable qualities.
My sympathy, Ruth, upon receiving this knowledge today, saddened as both Doris and I are.
