PRETTY, Marlene Clair (nee Moore)

February 28, 1933 – September 18, 2011

It is with deep sadness and much love that we say goodbye to Marlene Clair Pretty beloved wife of the late Robert Lyle Pretty of Calgary, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the age of 78 years.

Marlene was born into a family of eight siblings in Innisfail, AB. Through the many challenges of being part of a large family during the depression, she became a very strong and vivacious woman knowing her values and desires for her own life. Lyle and Marlene lived in the Priddis area for over thirty-five years and were dedicated to the St. James Anglican Church and the Community. Together, they also experienced many years of professional and personal enjoyment in the Oil and Gas Industry. Marlene’s personal passion for living was filled with ranching, golfing, fashion, traveling the world and most importantly of all, her family.

Marlene was a dedicated mother to her daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and David Leask, and her son and daughter-in-law Ken and Christine Pretty. She was a treasured grandmother to Rachel and Justin Steckly, Jessica Leask and Mack and Natalie Pretty, and she was delighted to be a great-grandmother to Brock Steckly. She is also survived by her extended family who will live with the beautiful memory of her in their hearts.

Respecting Marlene’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held. We wish to thank family, friends, and caregivers for their loving support. Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: 403-521-3433. www.albertacancer.ca/memorial.

In living memory of Marlene Pretty, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  5. Cheryl Curtis (nee Poos) :

We are so very sad to learn of “Auntie” Marlene’s passing. I have so many treasured memories of visiting Priddis as a child, it’s hard to believe, both she and Lyle are now gone. No one told me, something told me to google her name. You are in my thoughts Cheryl and Ken.
    Love
    Cheryl
