I am very sorry to hear of Claire’s passing. We began teaching at Holy Family in the mid 90s. It was my first year of teaching with the Catholic District after many years at home with my daughters. Claire was such a positive, upbeat, supportive influence on me! She was so kind and giving. I’ve thought of her many times over the years. My deepest regrets to her husband, children and grandchildren. May you find peace in your wonderful memories of Claire. God bless.

  7. Maria and Robert Steinborn :

We are so sorry to hear about Claire’s passing, she brought such life and compassion to the schools where she and I worked together. This is a very sad time for everyone whose lives where touched by her gentle spirit. I know many children who were impacted by her great work in the school but will never forget one upper elementary girl who move to Calgary from the Maritimes. She was a struggling reader when she came to our school, but by the time the year was done she was reading confidently at an upper elementary level. At the end of the year Claire received the highest tribute from her, telling me that “Thanks to Mrs. Prefontaine, I learned to read.” Claire was a teacher who walked in Christ’s footsteps as she worked with the children and was an inspiration to all. She will be missed. Our prayers and condolences go out to Rene, their children and family.
