October 15, 1921 – July 4, 2012
William “Henry” Powlan beloved husband of Anne of Calgary, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
He resided in Calgary where he was a well-known herbalist and proud veteran of World War II. He was as unique as he was special and will be remembered as someone who appreciated and lived life to the fullest. He had a wide circle of friends, all who enjoyed his keen sense of humour, his endless storytelling and booming voice and laughter. We were fortunate enough to have known this kind, courageous and considerate man who was truly one of the really good guys. For all of this and much more, he will be forever etched in our memories and hearts.
Besides his loving wife Anne, Henry is survived by his children Gay (Rey), Jade, Tania (John), Troy (Lee); step-children, Sam, Helen and John; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Evelyn (Berndt) of Calgary; and brothers Ronald (Charlene) and Dr. Roy (Heleane) of California. He was predeceased by father Frank, mother May; sisters May, Irene and Vi; brothers Robert and Frank; and daughter Jackie Roth.
