I met Ulla years ago while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I was a retired teacher, special ed. from Toronto and as she was a fellow teacher, a fellow Canadian, we enjoyed many chats. Sometimes joined at the weekly folklore and music performances. Found her delightful and I am so sorry to read that she has passed away. My heart goes out to her family, it must be a tremendous loss. She left Kingston to be with you “guys” and was so happy to have found a good place to stay. I feel the richer for having met her. Jeannette Vanderbrug Toronto, Ont.

  3. Bernice Johnson :

Dear Friends and Relatives of Ulla,
I had lost contact with my dear friend, Ulla, over the past perhaps ten or fifteen years, though I tried repeatedly to reach her. You have my deep sympathy in the loss of your mother, whom I knew as a lively, lovely, and generous friend. (For a month or so many years ago, Ulla and I shared a small apartment in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and we traveled together for one or two weeks afterwards.)
I was sorry to read that Ulla had been suffering from Alzheimer’s, that vicious, mind-eating disease. That must have been very difficult for her and for all of you. Sending warm wishes to her remaining family.

    -Bernice Johnson of Minneapolis Minnesota
