POUCETTE, Jerome Jordan

October 5, 1979- Calgary, AB
December 19, 2013 – Calgary, AB

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Jerome began his spirit journey home on December 19, 2013 at the age of 34 years. Jerome was the loving son of Charlie Mark and Cassie Poucette, adopted mother Teresa Powderface.

JJ grew up with strong traditional ways and teaching and was tremendously proud of his culture. He attended many powwows, through out North America. He was a teenboys grass dance champion in Bismark in 1992 and at the Calgary Stampede. He also proudly sang with drum groups Chiniki Lake, Stoney Park and his Brothers Rumbling Hills (Vern, Myrtis, Eric, Jordie, Laine, Reynard, Tristan, Vaughn, Daryl, Tytus, Lionel, Aaron, Traevin, Blair, Cameron, Dwight, Levi B and Levi L.H), as well he attended many Sundance’s. JJ graduated with his high school diploma from the Van Horn High School in Calgary in 1997; as well obtained certificates in auto body and cooking. He was actively involved in hockey through out his life playing from novice to midget; and played for Stoney minor hockey and Cochrane Minor Hockey. JJ had an adventurous spirit and always greeted everyone with a smile. Everyone who knew JJ knows he had a contagious laugh, was always teasing or ready to tell a joke with his laid back humour. You could always find him glued to the TV watching every Flames game, every football game and of course being a big fan of Snoop Dogg; even perfecting the Crip walk. Even through difficult times he always remained poised and emotionally strong for himself and family.

My dearest grandpa and grandma. I am very sorry for your lost. My heart is broken. Words can’t explain. Uncle was a very special person in our Lifes. And he’ll always be. He was like a brother to us. Me, my brother wade and the rest of us. I grow up knowing him to be a kind, friendly, funny guy. With a lot of potential. He always told us,” I am not uncle,I am not grandpa. I’m your brother. So forever I will be thankful for that. I love you both.
