POSATA, Antonio

September 30, 1937 – April 12, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Antonio Posata on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 74 years.

Antonio (affectionately known as Tonino) was born in S. Valentino Pescara, Italy. As a young man he worked in France where he met Giuseppe, the brother of his future wife. The two quickly became friends, and one day while visiting Giuseppe, Antonio came across a picture of a young lady and fell in love. He flew back to Italy to meet her, and in January of 1961, Antonio and Rosa were married. The couple moved to Swizerland and started a family. In 1970 they immigrated to Canada where he was employed at Standen’s Springs for over 33 years. He worked hard and played hard.

Tonio’s passion was fishing. Summer or winter, he was most content casting out his line. He would come home to his family and friends, and sitting at the dinner table, a plate of spaghetti and glass of home made wine, he would hear “you’re right dad, undeniably the best home made wine ever”.

Antonio will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years Rosa Posata; his daughter Mary (Dave) Wilson, and his son Sandro (Nelly) Posata; his grandchildren, Tia and David Wilson, Katrina, Zackery and Haleigh Posata; as well as his sisters Lina Lonzillotta (Savairo Lomardi) and Victoria Fruncillo.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church, (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetary. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Antonio Posata, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.

  7. Katrina Posata :

My Nonno was a great man. He was very wise, and great with his hands. He loved and supported his family with everything he had. I believe his greatest pride and joy came from us. As his first grandchild the only side I’ve ever had of him was a loving , caring, and funny man. Someone who could tell you what u needed to hear (even if u didn’t want to hear it) he always had your best interest at heart. Sometimes we don’t realize the impact a person has on us , until the time is passed. I am so proud to have had him as my Nonno for as long as I did and I cherish all the memories I have of him. I am honored to be a Posata and continue to make him proud. Xoxoxo Our family misses him dearly but We know that at every major mile stone you are still here with us , guiding us from the other side. Xoxoxo
