Our True Cowboy Clement Poor Eagle has passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 70 years, at the Strathmore Hospital.
Clement was born May 1, 1943 at Bassano Hospital. Clement was known for his humour and was always kind-hearted. He was active in rodeos, horse racing and boxing which gave him the name, “Stonewall.” Clement attended Crowfoot residential school and was part of the Horn Society. His days were spent living the traditional and cowboy way of life.
Clement is survived by his wife of thirty years Flora Cutter; daughter Stephanie ( Sidney) Plaited Hair; son, Clement Toby ( Sherry) Jerry; adopted sons, Jody Wright and Kevin Duck Chief; grandchildren, Krystal (Terrill), Sonny ( Tracey) Megan, Agnus, Angel, Lisa (Tommy) Brad ( Nicole)and Jesse ( JR); great-grandchildren, Ava, Meka, Jelisa, Arlen, Maddy, Thresa, Chance, Aden , Elgin, Willow, Emma, Maggie, Haddie, T.J., Marcus, John, Issiah, Kashus and Kennah. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty (William) Mills, Joan (Lawrence) Pantherbone, and Douglas (Beverly) Poor Eagle; sister-in-laws, Rosemary and Connie Poor Eagle; the extended families of Black, Spring Chief, Many Bears, Maguire, Olds, WolfLeg, Three Suns, Wright, Breaker, Goodeagles, Jerry , Turning Robe and Little Light; family from Maple Creek Saskatchewan including , Francis, Oaks and Stanley; and many relations from Treaty Seven Nations, as well as everyone else we may have missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Beatrice Poor Eagle; his brothers , Walter, Ross, Amos and Julius; sisters, Margaret and Irene Bull Bear; uncle Archie Stanley;and his aunts, Mary Francis, Annie Hess, Helen Oaks and Francis Stanley.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Doug Poor Eagle (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday July 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika Nation, AB on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
