July 29, 1931 – February 26, 2013
Ida Pomerance, of Calgary, beloved wife of Philip, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2013 at the age of 81.
In addition to being survived by her husband, Ida is also survived by her son Barrie (Brenda) of Calgary, daughter Renee of Windsor, ON, grandchild Tristen Chute-Pomerance of Calgary, and step grandchildren Delan, Alaine, and Jill Sharpe, all of Calgary.
Ida was a native Calgarian whose family founded City Bakery in 1921. She had a zest for life, a passion for shopping, a charismatic presence, and loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family and friends. She loved with an open and generous heart. Her strength and resilience allowed her to overcome many illnesses over a long period of time with grace, poise, good humour and acceptance. Ida had a passion for Jewish music and Jewish traditions and made her home a warm place where friends and family would gather to share in this heritage. She will be sorely missed by those who loved her. Special thanks to Dr. John Van Ohlm for his unwavering dedication and to Shirley McGoutry for her care and companionship.
Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail SW, Calgary AB, on Friday March 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Erlton Cemetery.
