Pollock, Frederick (Ted) Hughes

Ted Pollock, husband of Patricia Pollock of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Ted was born in Victoria, BC but raised in Kitchener, ON. He was an avid badminton player, winning the U.S. Open in 1938. In 1939, Ted enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and as a Flight Lieutenant, flew missions for the RAF in Africa and Europe. In 1945 he was discharged from the service to pursue a career in Medicine, practicing as a family physician for forty years in the Toronto area. Upon retirement, Ted enjoyed time spent with family and friends between his homes in Calgary and Toronto. Ted is survived by his wife Patricia; children, Bill, Virginia and her husband Gerald, Jane, and Nick and his wife LeeAnn; and grandchildren, Ted, Daniel, Patricia, and Ashley. A Private Family Service will be held.   Forward condolences through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.caThe Pollock family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Rockyview General Hospital for their care and consideration. In living memoryf Ted Pollock, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
