POLLOCK – Carmun (nee Schaumleffel)

June 21, 1945 – April 8, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmun Thelma Pollock of Calgary on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the age of 65 years.

Carmun will always be remembered for her great strength and infectious smile. She fought a courageous battle with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of four. In spite of this, she led a happy and active lifestyle, taking pleasure in her many friends, children and grandchildren. Too numerous to mention are those who knew her as Nan or Auntie Carmun.

Carmun is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Lorie Pollock; daughter Lisa Pollock, all of Calgary; grandchildren, Candice, Matthew and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Hayley and Brenden. She is also survived by her sister Brandice Bourlon. Carmun and Phil Pollock were married for eighteen years and continued to enjoy parenting and grandparenting. She was predeceased by her mother Wreatha in 1981; father Jack in 1988 and sister Candice in 1952.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Carmun’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Arthritis Society, www.arthritis.ca.

In living memory of Carmun Pollock, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

Condolence Messages

  1. Joanne Waddell :

Carmun inspired so many to do more for themselves than they ever thought they could do. What a friend, a fantastic teacher, and the most determined & happy Lady. Carmun would often say – if only my body could keep up to my mind and ideas !!

I will never forget our road trip to Regina. Angie was Miss Daisy, Carmun was Thelma and I was Louise. No one knew til later in the trip that Carmun’s middle name is Thelma and mine really is Louise. The laughing started all over again. I will never forget all the laughs we shared over the many years. Thank you Carmun for being such a great friend, and such a huge part of the Waddell family. Missed greatly but will always remember the great times we shared. Love & hugs to the family and the many friends who loved Carmun.

Below are the words to the song When I Get Where I’m Going by Brad Paisley

When I get where I’m going on the far side of the sky.
The first thing that I’m gonna do Is spread my wings and fly.

I’m gonna land beside a lion, and run my fingers through his mane.
Or I might find out what it’s like To ride a drop of rain

    (Chorus:)
Yeah when I get where I’m going, there’ll be only happy tears.
I will shed the sins and struggles, I have carried all these years.
And I’ll leave my heart wide open, I will love and have no fear.
Yeah when I get where I’m going, Don’t cry for me down here.

I’m gonna walk with my grandaddy, and he’ll match me step for step,
and I’ll tell him how I missed him, every minute since he left.
    Then I’ll hug his neck.

    (Chorus)

So much pain and so much darkness, in this world we stumble through.
All these questions, I can’t answer, so much work to do.

But when I get where I’m going, and I see my Maker’s face.
I’ll stand forever in the light, of His amazing grace.
Yeah when I get where I’m going, Yeah when I get where I’m going,
there’ll be only happy tears. Hallelujah!
I will love and have no fear. When I get where I’m going.
Yeah when I get where I’m going.
