Herbert “Herb” Pointer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the age of 91 years with Marjorie, his wife of sixty-three years at his side.
Herb was born in England, immigrating to rural Saskatchewan with his family at the age of four. After graduating high school in Earl Grey, he joined the RCAF in 1940 where he served as a radio operator. After the war, he returned to Regina and began his professional career with Reid Smith and Forbes where he obtained his Chartered Accountant designation. In 1971, he moved with his family to Calgary to work with Dome Petroleum. He retired from Stittco Energy in 2001.
As patriarch, Herb took great pride in his family and was always instrumental in getting the family together and keeping it close.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marjorie; his five children, Theresa (Dave), Beverly (Donald), Donna (Donald), Thomas (Sandi) and Sandra (Stanley); his eleven grandchildren, Ryan (Tanya), Evan, Gavin, Stewart, Richard (Danielle), Stephen (Erika), Katherine (Kyle), Rachel, Jillian, Geoffrey (Kathryn) and Scott; his great-grandchild, Jackson; as well as his brother Reginald and sister Yvonne. Herb was predeceased by his grandson Peter, his sister Peggy and his first wife Theresa.
