Pappy lived on an acreage outside of Okotoks for many years before returning to Calgary, where he lived at the Trinity Lodge and the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre.

Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Joan Plant; and granddaughters, Jennifer, Johanna, and Jessica; and daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Doug Bell. He was predeceased by his wife, Middy, in 1989.
