Ernesto Pittis, beloved husband of Emma Pittis (nee Tomini) of Calgary, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the age of 93 years.
Born in Codroipo, Udine, Italy on March 9, 1921, there, Ernesto met Emma seventy years ago and they were married two years later. He worked in Africa and Arabia for ten years. Ernesto immigrated to Canada in 1955 where he worked for Flesher Marble and Tile until he retired in 1986. In 1963 his wife Emma and his children, Gino, Albertina and Franco, moved to Canada to be with him. In 1966 Rosina was born and the family was complete.
Ernesto became well known for the radicchio that he grew and which he supplied to the Friulano Club for many years. He regularly shared his homemade wine with all his friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed being outdoors and working in his garden.
Ernesto is survived by his wife Emma; his children, Gino (Janet), Albertina (Mike), Franco (Jeanne), and Rosina (Mario); eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Nonno you will always be in our thoughts.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
